Awards, Awards, Awards:

Nominations for several awards in different categories are now open. Deadline Friday April 2nd, 2010 for awards nomination applications. Brief descriptions of the awards in different categories are listed below:

1. Graduate Student Award(s): Approximately 10 awards will be made to graduate students presenting their research work (oral or poster paper) at the 10th ICPA conference. The award will consist of waived conference registration fees and US$500 cash award. The selected candidates will be honored during the conference award ceremony.

2. Pierre C. Robert Precision Agriculture Award(s): The Pierre C. Robert Precision Agriculture Award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to precision science and technology. Two awards will be given in this category to a Young and Senior Scientist/Professional. The young scientist/professional must be 42 or younger; the senior scientist/professional over 42. Senior scientist/professional must have 20 or more years of experience majority of which must be in the area of precision agriculture.

 

Pierre C. Robert Precision Agriculture Award

The Pierre C. Robert Precision Agriculture Award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to precision science and technology. Two awards will be given in this category to a Young and Senior Scientist/Professional. The young scientist/professional must be 42 or younger; the senior scientist/professional over 42. 

The selected candidates will be honored during the conference award ceremony with a Plaque of Achievement and US$1000 cash award.

Nomination: The nominee must be presenting a paper (oral or poster) at the conference to be eligible for this award. All nominations must be submitted as e-mail attachments in Acrobat pdf. All documents must use Times New Roman, font size=12, and single-spaced.  Nomination materials are limited to 6 pages, excluding reference letters.

NOMINATION PACKAGE GUIDELINES:

I. Cover page (Page 1):

TITLE: Title the document, “Nomination of ……….. (insert nominee’s name) for the Pierre C. Robert Precision Agriculture Award 2010: (Specify: Young or Senior Scientist/Professional category)

NOMINEE: Include the name, title, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.

NOMINATOR: Include the name, title, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.

REFERENCES: Provide contact information (name, full mailing address, phone, and email) for two other individuals who are willing to submit (via separate e-mail to the Chair of the award) one-page reference/support letters.

 

II. Nominator’s 1-page letter (Page 2): (nomination from the nominator).

III. Personal achievements (Page 3):  (education, positions and honors)

a. Degrees received. Give field, date, and institution for each degree.

b. Professional positions held. Give name of each position, years, institution or organization, and locations.

c. Honors and awards received. Honors and awards received

IV. Professional achievements/accomplishments (Page 4 through 6):

a. Primary Contribution:  Identify the single most notable contribution the nominee has made to precision agriculture.

b. Additional Contributions: Identify and briefly explain the other contributions (other than publications) on which the nomination is based. Include significant achievements and accomplishments in teaching, outreach, research, industry, service, and leadership.

c. Membership: List membership in professional, honorary, and academic societies; and service to recognized professional societies.

d. Publications/Patents: List no more than 12 of the nominee's technical or non-technical publication or patents that demonstrate contribution to the science, technologies, or education programs of precision agriculture.

Precision Agriculture Outstanding Graduate Student Awards

Deadline: Nominations are due by Friday April 2, 2010.

Purpose: The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate student achievement, training, preparation and research in the area of precision agriculture.

Approximately 10 awards will be made to graduate students presenting their research work (oral or poster paper) at the 10th ICPA conference. The award will consist of waived conference registration fees and US$500 cash award. The selected candidates will be honored during the conference award ceremony.

The award is administered by the Award Committee of the International Conference on Precision Agriculture.

Nomination: Nominee must be presenting a paper (oral or poster) at the conference to be eligible for this award. All nominations must be submitted as an e-mail attachment in Acrobat pdf. All documents must use Times New Roman, font size=12, and single-spaced. Nomination materials are limited to 6 pages.

  • Submit a 2-page CV indicating educational degrees, grades, scholarship, published research, awards, membership and activity in academic/professional societies, and other extracurricular activities. (40 points)
    III. Summary of research (1 page limit):
  • A one-page summary of research work being conducted and/or presented at the International Conference on Precision Agriculture. (35 points)
    IV. Student’s Vision (1 page limit):
  • A short one-page narrative written by the nominee describing their perspective and vision of how precision agriculture science and technologies can help shape the future of agriculture. It could include statements of the nominee’s professional goals and aspirations in contributing to this vision. (15 points)
    V. Nominator’s support letter (1 page limit):
  • The nominator can be your major professor or any other faculty member familiar with your research work. (10 points)
